Guidelines on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Responsible Use:

Authors using Generative AI technologies such as large language models, chatbots, or image creators in their research or manuscript text preparation must disclose this in their submission statement and acknowledgements section, stating the exact prompts entered to the AI and the specific tool used for generation. It is up to the discretion of the Editorial Team to judge the acceptability of the AI usage.

However, authors must ensure that the AI-generated content they use is accurate, minimally biased, and adheres to our plagiarism policy. If it is discovered that an author has misused AI tools or failed to disclose their use of AI, their manuscript may be rejected.

  • AI images:

SPARK Health does not accept any AI-generated images unless the research specifically explores AI or machine learning, at which the image is subject to the Editorial Team for approval. Same disclosure principles apply.

Any manipulation or alteration of images by AI is prohibited, authors are responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of their images.

  • Confidentiality:

Manuscripts under peer-review or editing must not be put into AI tools by the reviewers/editors unless consented to by the author in order to uphold copyright and confidentiality agreements
